On 30th October 2025, Companies House announced another round of fee increases, this time taking effect from 1st February 2026.
If this feels like déjà vu, that’s because the confirmation statement fee was only recently raised from £13 to £34 in May 2024 so this marks the second rise in under two years.
Companies House says the new fees reflect the growing cost of running the register and the extra responsibilities introduced under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act. These include new identity verification requirements and stronger powers to tackle fraud and keep company information accurate.
It’s also worth noting that Companies House is a government agency that operates on a cost-recovery, not-for-profit basis so the fee increases aren’t about generating profit, but about covering the cost of delivering its expanding role and services.
If you run a limited company, you must file a confirmation statement every year, even if nothing’s changed. From February 2026, the online filing fee will be £50, so it’s worth factoring this into your company’s annual costs. If you're looking to incorporate a business, the cost for this will be increasing (although with Mighty, it's worth noting we don't charge an additional fee on top of Companies House's incorporation fee to help with this).
